Why Sooner Is Better Than Later
In all aspects of healthcare, you often hear the phrase, "early detection." Over the span of lives of mankind, medicine of all disciplines has changed their focus from a tendency toward reactive treatment to a model of preventative care. From dental disease to diet...
Getting Started with Us
What To Expect
Starting Your Therapy Journey
-
Initial Evaluation
Your therapist begins by thoroughly assessing your problem – whether it’s pain, flexibility, mobility limitations or strength issues.
-
Control the Problem
Treatment starts with various techniques designed to control the problem, including:
- A number of hands-on techniques that may be provided by your physical therapist. These are focused on addressing the underlying reasons for your pain and/or limitation(s), and may include dry needling, deep tissue mobilization (massage) or myofascial release.
- Limitations in your joints may be treated through neuromuscular mobilizations, joint mobilizations or – in certain cases – spinal manipulation.
-
Keep the Problem from Coming Back
Following the use of hands-on techniques, your therapist will use a variety of exercises to reinforce the changes in your condition. These might include strengthening, stretching and joint flexibility exercises that help reduce stress on the injured areas.
What To Remember
Post-Appointment Tips
One of the most important things for you to remember is the fact that post-physical therapy exercises can be a vital part of your recovery. You may be given a home exercise program by your therapist. These exercises are designed to self-regulate possible flare-ups – and can help ensure that your problem doesn’t come back.
And be sure to always remember our ultimate goal: Getting you back to your life!
